Mental health is known in English as (Psychological health), and it is a set of procedures and methods that individuals follow in maintaining their mental health, so that they can find appropriate solutions to the problems they face. A number of psychological schools have been interested in developing definitions of mental health, which are:
  • Definition of the school of psychoanalysis: This school is represented by the psychologist Freud, and he defined mental health as the ability to do work, as long as a person does not suffer from any disease that prevents him from doing so, and therefore this school considers mental health as the opposite of disease.
  • Definition of the behavioral school: It is the individual's choice of appropriate behavior with the situations he faces, based on the social ideas he acquired from the society in which he lives.
  • Definition of the humanitarian school: This school represents the scientist Maslow, and he defined mental health as having a normal personality that helps him to deal with the events that occur with him, and is different from the abnormal personality that is unable to deal well with the surrounding events.

Concepts based on mental health

There is a set of concepts that mental health depends on its study, including:
  • Personality: It is one of the main components of the human being, and it is linked with the nature of the response to the influential phenomena, and how to direct it to human behavior, as long as the individual does not suffer from any psychological or neurological diseases.
  • Frustration: It is a psychological condition that affects a person, especially when he finds obstacles while performing his work, or achieving his own goals, and the feeling of frustration disappears when the factors that produce it are removed.
  • Anxiety: is an emotional state that affects a person; Because of his waiting for a certain thing, or fear of something, and the feeling of anxiety disappears when the reasons that lead to it disappear.
  • Hostility: It is an individual behavior that pushes the individual to attack himself, or other individuals, whether by directing words to them, or harming them physically, and this behavior is not acceptable in the interaction of individuals together.

The nature of the work in which a person works is one of the influences that affect his psyche.
